Perturbation theory in cellular automata and neural networks

Research in the foundational sciences track, the only undergraduate in it, supervised by Max Piskunov (Wolfram Institute) in collaboration with Stephen Wolfram. The track studies physical and mathematical problems with the Wolfram Language and explores the relationship between fundamental physics and the Wolfram model.

The project explored and classified perturbations in cellular automata, some of which are of physical interest because of how they propagate and interact. The animation at the top of this page is a small version of that idea.

Symmetron vs. Chameleon screening

Modelling the interactions and effective-mass variations of a Higgs-portal (Symmetron) scalar field across environments of varying density, and comparing the predicted experimental signatures and screening behaviour with established Chameleon field models.
